Not A Cat Person

So my friend brought me to volunteering at this cat place. I'm not a cat person, never was and never will. My friend only volunteers there and not the dog one. I just wanted to see what it's like and ever since coming back from vacation I wanted to volunteer. When I got into the cat place...SO MANY CATS! We went into this house thing, it had this strong smell, kind of like those pet store smell but stronger. I hope my house doesn't smell like that, we clean little princess everyday and every time she comes back from outside.

It was dinner time for the cats so we had to prepare their food. We just scooped out cans of wet food and put them where they should be. This grey cat was on the counter the whole time and eating from every plate we were preparing. She was memorable and I remember she had this rough patch on her ear. When we left the house she followed and likes me patting her. When my friend was washing the tin cans I was sitting down and that cat came to me and want me to pat her. She would follow me when I walk to my friend. The lady that works there or something said the cat's name is Iris.

 

While I was patting Iris, other cats came and want to be pat as well. Iris got mad and MEOW and wanted to attack the other cat. I got scared because little princess wouldn't get mad all of a sudden and try to attack at home... If she does we know when because she does that when we touch her feet/hands or pick her up when she is sleeping.

Then my friend showed me around the place so I had to leave Iris. Cats just loves to follow and come to you when they want to. My friend and I kept taking pictures of the cats. It's not his first time there and he is still taking pictures like crazy. =)

Peppercorn

We went to this other house and I was patting this black cat, it seems to like it. Then all of a sudden it opens its mouth to "bite" my hand... It wasn't hard because I didn't feel any teeth or was my cardigan just thick? I was like WTF!? Then I stop patting and start making unhappy faces at it, I guess it's trying to tell me to stop patting or something? I told my friend and he said maybe it likes you. I'm like........ if it likes me it wouldn't bite me!

We went back to where Iris was. She was sleeping under this chair and I went to her. She came out of the chair and let me pat. I was kneeling and it hop onto my legs, so cute! Little princess doesn't even do that... Then this other cat came and I was trying to touch the other one to be fair. I kind of lost balance and almost fell and Iris jumped off and got mad. She probably thought I was trying to hurt her? Then I was patting her for a bit then all of a sudden she pawed me, almost like a scratch. I'm like WTF!? So I left and it kind of followed but stayed a bit far from me. I went to pat other cats and Iris was just looking from afar.

I honestly don't understand cats. If they like you they will come to you and if they don't like you they teeth/paw you. Little princess is almost like a cat, she doesn't like it when we bother her sometimes and make this noise or try to bite us but we know she won't hurt us. I guess it's like human. When we don't like something we get mad or annoyed too. Maybe I just don't know cats well enough?

 My friend said if I'm interested and they ask him to volunteer and he is busy he can give them my info. I told him I don't want to go alone. It's so quiet there, more cats than human. I thought it's easy to meet people at volunteering... He said he doesn't mind going alone because the cats are there. I don't understand them so I don't want to go by myself. I still prefer dogs more than cats. I may go again if they really need someone since it's super close to my workplace.

Random moment, I suddenly thought of this song because I remember watching the MV with a cat.
I like it and it makes me wanna cry. =( You will understand if you have a pet. Bolded part makes my eyes watery. =(
