Shiny Tea Review

I'm not doing a review on their BBT but their ice cream. My friend told me about this place, she loves their BBT. She also told me about their ice cream. I decided to go try the one at Aberdeen Square, yes that dead mall.

When I got there, there were quite a few people waiting and ordering. I ordered the roasted tie guan yin tealato ($4.75) with condense milk (free). If you want toppings, you have to add $0.50- $1.00.

Service was ok, the girl said hi in Mandarin, I guess they expect everyone to know Mandarin, sorry I don't. I waited quite a bit, even the people ordered after me, got their drinks and left already. I was fine with the wait because I had lots of time that day. It took awhile because the guy that was making it thought it didn't look good or something. How did I know? When I was waiting, I overheard the guy at the back asking the girl if it's ok. The girl replied I guess. (I understand basic Mandarin). So the guy had to redo it. It's good that they want to make it perfect but maybe they can practice that when customer isn't waiting for their order? The cashier saw me waiting when everyone else left, she went to the back to check and she told me to wait a bit more in Mandarin.

Finally got my ice cream and went to the food court to eat. It did look as fat (size wise) as the picture on their ad. There was tea taste but not too strong. I guess if it's too strong it would have that tea bitterness? I do prefer a stronger tea taste. It wasn't too sweet so it wasn't too filling, which is good. It had a hollow middle like most ice cream that comes out of those soft serve machine. I believe it's gelato's friend since it's called tealato? It didn't have a creamy texture, it wasn't icy, just right. I also couldn't really taste the condense milk that was on top of the ice cream.

I guess their BBT taste something similar to their ice cream? I would like to try one day. Their ice cream is as expensive as their BBT. Don't think I will try their ice cream again, nothing too special about it.
