Cocoru Review

I was looking around for a restaurant and saw Cocoru, a fried chicken and beer restaurant. I have never been there so decided to give it a try. When we got there, there weren't much people but more and more people started coming in later on. The restaurant isn't that big so people had to wait. The staff were really nice, I believe they are all Korean? I like the restaurant decor, no reason just do.

We ordered the half and half boneless chicken, soy garlic chicken and soonsal yangnyeom (spicy) ($23). We all really like it. The flavour was just right, it still had some crunchiness to it with the sauce on there. The batter isn't thick which is good. I liked the soonsal yangnyeom one better. It wasn't spicy to me, I want to try the more spicy one next time. To me I thought the chicken was a tiny bit expensive but if you are sharing then I guess it's ok? The portion of the chicken wasn't that much.

We also ordered some alcoholic drinks, just because we all had a stressful week and it's a Friday night. I ordered the Jerkface 9000 because of the name and the description on the menu ($6). I thought it tasted pretty good, like the description says, it's easy drinking. My friend ordered the yogurt soju ($13) because they didn't have wine that night. I picked the yogurt flavour for her since she wasn't sure which one. I heard from another friend that yogurt soju is really good and my friend was right. I tried it and it tasted so much better than this green apple soju I had in Korea! It's much sweeter and the alcohol doesn't seem as strong. I normally don't drink because of the strong alcohol taste so if I think these are ok, it should be ok for most people. They also put the soju on top of these colour changing light gadgets, pretty cool.

Oh and they put their empty beer and soju glasses in the fridge and takes it out, pour the drinks in when someone orders it. Totally reminds me of Korea, they put cold water in a container, puts in the fridge and takes it out when someone comes in. Anyways, my friends loved the yougurt soju, they ordered like 2 more glasses of them. I was shocked when the waitress brought over the third glass of soju because my friends said they didn't order another one. My friend said my reaction was priceless. When they ordered the third one, the waiter asked if they were ok haha! I don't think they were, they were like addicted or something. My friends thought the price of the alcohol were pretty good, we drank so much. ↓

The waiter came and said his boss is making a new drink and asked if we wanted to try. My friend said we aren't done ours yet and he said they will give us a bit to try, we said yes. That was not a bit but maybe as much as 2 shot glasses, very kind of them (complimentary). They gave us a passion fruit soju to try, I thought it was good, easy drinking as well, not as sweet as the yogurt one. We all preferred the yogurt one better though. He said his boss is trying to make soju drinks not as sweet as the yogurt one. Don't ever stop making the yogurt one, we loved it. =)

Overall, I think Cocoru is a great place to hang out with friends. At least my friends and I had a blast there. The food and drinks are great. I believe we will be going there again because my friends really like that yogurt soju. I miss Korea, I shall go back again soon.

Oh, they only had 2 washrooms, one for men and one for women. I was waiting and the waiter said "you can use the men's one, just remember to lock the door". LOL! I thought that was funny.

They gave us some candies when they gave us the bill
