I was going out for dinner with friends but we had to wait because it was a sunny Friday night plus there was a hockey game. While we were waiting, we decided to go to Earnest to eat ice cream. I was actually having a headache from work but when my friend told me there is an Earnest around I was all happy. Sweets make me happy and I'll always have room for it. =)
When we got there, there was a line up but I think that is typical for Earnest. I don't remember how long I waited for but it was ok since I had friends to talk with. The only thing I didn't really like was the music. I thought their music was a bit too loud, it was hard to hear my friends. It's an ice cream place, not a pub... I speak very "softy" to people (mostly strangers) so the lady that was helping me had to lean over to hear.
Anyways, I asked to try lavender and lemon + poppy seed. At first I was worried that the lavender wouldn't taste good because the taste of lavender is kind of weird to me. I have tried brewing lavender tea and it taste so weird (can't describe). Their lavender ice cream was actually good, a light lavender taste, right amount that was not overpowering. My friend liked it so she ordered it. I like their lemon + poppy seed, fresh lemon taste with texture from the poppy seeds. I have been making lemon + poppy seed bundt cake and loafs at work so I like that combination. =)
My friend thought it's funny how I didn't ordered the ones I tried but instead I ordered London fog. Well I wanted to try as much flavours as I can. Plus, a lot of people say their London fog is good so I feel safe ordering that without trying first. I got mine in a cone and I understand why my friends that went to another ice cream place with me said Earnest's cones are better. It was better, it was crispier and not as thick I think. I've never even try the London fog drink before so not too sure what it is supposed to taste like. I'm guessing kind of like milk tea (I love milk tea). I thought it tasted ok, it had this taste but I don't know how to describe it, maybe it was the milk taste? Their ice cream isn't that sweet (I like really sweet stuff), I guess that's why people like it. It wasn't that filling, usually when I finish a cone I'm so full. After that cone, I was still ok, I still have room for dinner.
I would go back again to try other flavours but only if I'm around that area. Hardly go to Vancouver now.
