It's located beside Canada Place. When we got in it was ok packed with people. I thought the place was very pretty. The people near the kitchen would yell out that phase in Japanese, I think welcome? I see a lot of Japanese restaurants do that. The waitress that was helping us was really nice, she went over the menu with us and what she recommends.
So, we ordered the prawn cocktail ($19), ebi fritter ($15), sockeye salmon sashimi ($19), salmon oshi sushi ($17) and king roll ($17). The plate weren't that big and it was expected. Each plate was nicely presented. I liked the ebi fritter and salmon sashimi presentation the most.
First, the prawn cocktail, to me it wasn't too special. I prefer the ebi fritter more than this. This dish was more "original", you can taste the "true" flavour of prawns. It was fresh and had the right prawn texture, not soft/mushy. I liked the sauce, cocktail ish taste. The seaweed was a bit salty and very "ocean" taste.
The ebi fritter, it was a deep fried prawn dish. I liked it, it was crispy and the prawn had a soft, cooked texture, just right, not overly cooked. There were chili powder on the dish but I didn't taste any spiciness. I like the sauce that was on it, made it very yummy.
Salmon oshi sushi, I thought it was the round pressed sushi because that's what the waitress said when she was going over the menu... I wanted to try the round sushi because I never had them before but it's just round shapes and topped with something. It was those rectangular pressed sushi. It was really good. It completely melts in the mouth. It was a bit oily, I believe it's because they torch the sushi and that's the oil from the salmon? The jalapeno on top gave it a tiny kick.
Last but not least, king roll. It kind of reminds me of a cali roll without the avocado. I like how the tempura prawn and cucumber give it a crunchy texture. However, I prefer the salmon oshi sushi more.
We were given 2 different soya sauce, can't really tell the difference except for the colour, one dark, one light. I believe one was saltier than the other? The waitress said we don't need to dip their sushi in soya sauce. Which was true, the sushi that we had, had enough flavour on them, especially the salmon oshi sushi.
Oh, comment on their washroom, it's quite dark, I could hardly see anything inside the stall lol! It's quite sound proof too, you can only hear the washroom flushing, super quiet.
Thanks again my friend!
