Wang Ji Asian Cuisine Review

Saw this place online and boyfriend usually likes hot pot so decided to go try it. There were a few tables of people when we got there and people coming in and out during the whole time we were there. I thought it would be dead because of the virus. Service was ok, that woman was quite nice but she forgot to give us the drinks that came with our meals, she did apologize.

We ordered the special beef brisket noodle with thick noodle ($12.95) and the Laksa seafood hotpot ($17.50). Both meal came with peach green tea or something green tea.

I had to pick the beef noodle because it was either beef or wonton. They should have more meat options for their noodle. The bowl was huge but there weren’t that much stuff in it. There were like 5 piece of beef brisket. The beef was a bit chewy to us. I thought it would be soft and the melt in your mouth feeling. The flavour was not bad, it was like normal beef noodle soup taste but on the lighter side. The noodle actually had some flavour, I thought it would be hard for thick noodle to soak up flavour. Some of the noodle was stuck together but it’s normal.

The hot pot actually had quite a few things in it. Most hot pot places but mostly cooked or half cooked food in it but this one, the seafood was still raw. I guess they don’t want them to be over cooked? There were lots of different types of fish balls stuff and tons of veggie. Not that much seafood, 2 mussels, 3 shrimps and some clams. Boyfriend said they should have removed the head of the shrimps because the water in it squeezed out onto him. They should have a choice of rice or noodle that comes with the hot pot. It only comes with rice so you will have to order the noodle with extra cost.

Overall, we thought it was ok but probably never again. The taste and size were ok but not a lot of choices, especially the noodle, all beef… What if people don’t eat beef but wants to eat noodle, doesn’t make sense. We thought the hot pot were on pricey side but most hot pot places are around that price nowadays.
