Kokoro Tokyo Mazesoba Review

As usual, I was doing my research and I found this place and decided to try it. It was still ok new when I went. (I post stuff months later...) It's ok size in there. We had to write down our name and get called. I think the waiting area is big enough to make a few more tables for customers to eat. That was one wasted area. There were quite a few people waiting.

We were seated at the bar. Some places have like a basket for you to put your jacket and bag in if you sit at a bar. They didn't, they should, most Japan restaurants in Japan has that.

Service was good. When they lead you to your table the waitress yells out something and everyone at the kitchen will say welcome in Japanese. They do it for every group of people and sitting at the bar, I thought it was quite loud. It's a great thing to do but I was having trouble listening to my friend.

Anyways, I ordered curry mazesoba ($13.99) and friend got the niku mazesoba ($15.99). I wanted the chef special but it's like $17 something. Quite pricey for the size. I wanted pork belly.

The curry mazesoba was pretty good. It had enough flavour and the sauce stuck to every mazesoba. In the beginning it looked dry but when you mix it, it's perfect. When I was waiting for my noodle I think I saw them pour in either 2 spoons of broth or lard. I just know it was white. I thought the curry flavour was a bit light, I like it stronger. The noodle had a nice texture, not too soft or hard. The only thing I didn't like was the onion, it was quite raw and spicy. There were some grounded meat but not a lot.

Overall, I thought it was not bad. It tasted quite good but I thought it was on the expensive side for that price, at least a bit more meat or a bit more noodle or something. I may come back again, I may try their ramen next time.
