The service was not bad, the girl was really nice. My friend told me that she actually came back to the table with a tissue to pick up the bone for her. She sung happy birthday to me lol, thanks.
Anyways, I thought we were just having happy hour food (pretty much why I picked the restaurant) but we ordered one of their dine out and a few happy hour items. For dine out, we got the blackened ahi tuna, roasted chicken and chocolate brownie ($45). The happy hour items were mussels and fries ($9), prawns ($7.50), calamari ($7), burrata & prosciutto ($8.50).
The prawns, which we all thought were pretty good. The prawns were soft, I guess just well done not over cook at all. The sauce was really good with it. It was like a mayo with some spicy sauce. I would totally recommend people to order this.
Mussels and fries were my second best but would be my first choice to pick off the menu. It's definitely filling and at a good price. There were a handful of mussels, 2 slices of bread and a tin of fries. The favour of the sauce had an Indian curry taste to me but not really. It was a really good dip for the bread. It was hard to get that sauce into the mussel but it's ok. The fries were good, super soft inside.
Calamari, definitely different, I was expecting it to look more like rings. They were thick strips. When I took a bite, it was very soft, almost like a firm tofu. When I tried another one after it got cold, it was a harder texture. The flavour was not bad, lightly salted and batter was very thin. I guess they used a different kind of squid or another part of a squid. It was soft and not hard to chew so I guess it's good. The greens, we didn't like too much. I like the tomatoes on it. The rocket veggie (I think) had a green bitterness to it.
The burrata prosciutto was my least favourite, I was never really a fan of those. I don't like cheese and those are more for cheese lovers I think? My friends really like that cheese though, they said it taste really good. It looked creamy to me. There was a fig jam, which I didn't try. The prosciutto was very thin and had a sweet taste to me and it was also salty. The bread was harder than the bread from the mussels.
Dine out, the tuna was good, normally those tuna are not bad. The crust had a salty taste to it which was nice. Nothing particularly special.
The brownie, very sweet but good. I think we just got too full at this point and don't want to eat anymore.
They gave me a complimentary dessert, I'm not sure what kind of pie it was. I thought it was apple but I don't taste apple. I see on their menu pear and almond tart. Not sure, I didn't taste any almond though.
Overall, not bad. Their happy hour was much better than their dine out. I would come back again for their happy hour. =)
