Decided to try this place for breakfast. It was empty when we for in because it just opened. Then more and more people came in. The lady was ok there, not the most happy looking waitress but it's ok.
We ordered the pull pork waffle benny ($17) and seaglass omelet ($17).
The pull pork waffle was not bad. It was ok soggy from maybe the syrup or sauce on it. I believe they used granny smith apple with cinnamon in it. At first, I thought they were onion. The pull pork was a bit harder to chew and it had a sweet taste to it. I thought it would be salty since it's pork. Overall, it had a nice sweet taste to it.
The potatoes were not bad. Probably the best potatoes I've had from a breakfast place. It was crunchy and flavoured already. Most places have no taste to it.
The fruits were fruits. The gooseberry was sour but not as sour as what I've had before.
Someone liked the omelet and thought it was different. I tried a bit, it was ok with avocado and bacon. Someone said there was cheese inside but didn't give me any.
Overall, not bad, a bit pricey but the portions were quite big and we were full from it. The place was quite nice, beside the water. Yes, would come back again. This was the best place we ate at on this getaway.

Han Ju Tofu Hotpot Review
Saw this place one time when we drove by so decided to come try. It was empty when we got there and then more and more people came in. It was a full house and people had to wait. It's not very big in there. Service was ok but they didn't thank me when I pay.
We ordered the kimchi hotpot ($12.35) and the seafood hotpot ($12.35). Add $1 for a large bubble tea.
The pot looks small but had an ok amount of food in it. The food were pretty normal in it. There was a dip with it but I thought everything had enough flavor without the dip. It had a light spicy taste to it.
The seafood pot has the exact same stuff in it, just no kimchi.
We got the mango milk tea and it tasted fake. Wasn't milk tea to me. More like mango milk.
Overall, not bad for the price but probably won't come back again.

Motomachi Shokudo Review
I wanted to try this place because it looked ok online and we were around the area so we went. The place was very tiny. There was a big group of people so it felt like really busy. When they were gone, the place was a bit quite down. We did have an early dinner so maybe that's why too. Service was ok.
We ordered the classic miso ($11.50) and the wonton ramen ($12.99), thanks.
The classic miso was like normal ramen. Egg had the jelly like texture which I like. There were bamboo and bean sprouts. 2 slice of pork. The pork were soso to someone. It wasn't as flavoured as other place but the fat part tasted so good. It just melts in your mouth. The pork was quite small though. There were quite a bit of ramen and it had enough flavour from the soup. The soup was very flavoured and someone said a bit oily.
The wonton ramen, we are not sure why it was limited. It looked so plain and felt like eating a wonton wrapper. There was hardly any fillings in it. I think it would be better if the filling was bigger. There were quite a bit of ramen as well. The soup was on the lighter side which someone liked.
Overall, wasn't as good as I expected. It was too normal for me. No, I won't come back again. Next ramen place.

Jean George Review
Decided to try this place because it's closing end of December. I wanted to try their dine out but their menu wasn't something I liked.
The service was definitely on the higher end. They asked if we wanted coat check. Walked us to the table, watch us sit down and said enjoy etc. During the meal people came 4 times to ask if everything was good. I thought that was a bit too much but I guess they want all their customers to be happy?
One thing I don't like was the stupid table, it was chipped on the corner and my sleeve keeps getting caught, come threads came out. Should have complained but let's not look ugly at a high end restaurant.
We ordered the Korean fried chicken and buttermilk pancake ($20) and the smoked salmon egg benny ($21).
They gave us complimentary madeleines. I've always wanted to try making them but I have never tried eating them before. It was like a tiny little cake, quite soft and had a sweetness to it. I quite like it and I would like to try making it someday.
When the fried chicken pancake came, I thought it was a bit small for that price but it was ok filling. The fried chicken still have a bit of the crunch and it's tangy and spicy, quite good with the pancake. The pancake wasn't very thick, quite fluffy. Someone asked if it would be better with syrup. Yes because it's dry without syrup. It didn't come with any, I think they want us to eat it with the fried chicken. It was not bad with the fried chicken sauce. If the pancake was thicker than yes I will need syrup.
Someone liked the egg benny, thought it was done just right. It tasted not bad but I thought it's like normal egg benny. The portion was ok big. I was actually surprised. There were potatoes and some salad on the side.
Overall, not bad but they are closing so I have to say I won't come back again. They are opening a new restaurant there though so maybe I'll try that one then. The washroom was ok nice too.

Green Lemongrass Review
Wanted to try this place last week but had change of plans so decided to try this week. It's been here forever but I've never tried it. The inside was very Vietnamese style. Service was ok. No one brought our bill so had to go up ourselves.
We ordered the house special ($8) and the beef short ribs pressed noodle ($13 something?).
I was debating small or large but when we asked the girl, her hands didn't move much when she showed us the size difference so went with small. The house special was very normal and there weren't as much toppings. The noodle was same old.
The short ribs dish looked quite big and nice. I guess the raw long veggie made the dish big? The short ribs had enough flavour, quite good. The pressed noodle was something new to me. I've never seen it before. It was ok, just like normal noodle. Had to soak it into the sour sauce or it would have no taste.
Overall, I think it was just ok. I've had better pho than that but their price is not bad if you just want to fill your tummy up.

Tian Shi Fu Review
The place we wanted to try wasn't open so we came here instead. It was actually ok busy in there. Not filled since it's ok big in there. Service was good, one of the guy seems quite nice. Not sure if he knew some girl at the table or not but he was spooning soup into the take out bowl for her. I normally see people just dump it in.
Anyways, ordered the spicy pork hand pull noodle ($10.99) and friend got the lamb planed noodle, aka knife cut noodle ($12.99).
The bowls were actually ok size, pretty full after it. My spicy pork was not bad. They used pork belly so a bit fat but it's good. I thought they would use pork meat chunks. There were lots of green pepper in it. Some had a tiny spice in it and there were ones that were stinging type of spicy. The tiny spice one was not bad. The soup was very flavoured so the noodle had enough flavour. The noodle had a nice texture, not too hard or soft. It's hand pulled so they were a bit different size.
I tried one of the knife cut noodle, it's on the thicker side and had enough flavour as well.
Overall, not bad, might be my next favourite noodle to eat after korean seafood one but don't know. Will come back again.

Cannery Cafe Review
Someone wanted to try this place so we did. It was a tiny café, very cozy feeling. There were quite a few people in there. At one point it was all filled. There service was good,
We ordered the cannery poutine ($13.99) and the granny's sourdough chowder ($8.99), thanks.
Both looked nice. The poutine was like sizzling hot and made cheese at the bottom caramelized. The fries were nicely done, some crispiness to it yet soft. It was nice to poke the sunny side up to mix with the fries, makes it a bit moist. One thing I didn't like, too little gravy. The ramekin was so big but they only put little less than half in there. The poutine seemed dry when not enough gravy. Asked if I could get more gravy and they said they charge for that, $0.99. Seriously? You charge for more gravy? $1 too? And I bet you if I did say yes, they will just give me the same amount as what they gave me in the beginning. Normally places will give you more than enough sauce for everything that you eat. Why so cheap on gravy? How much does that cost you? I can buy like a can of gravy for a $1 at markets!
The sourdough chowder was ok thick. We both thought it was very light on flavour. Someone said it usually has a stronger seafood taste to it. I did try a clam and tasted ok, real and not canned ones. The sour dough bread was very sour without the soup. I've had similar type of soup before, their bread was not as sour.
Overall, it's alright but I wouldn't go again. The place was nice but the food was just ok. Someone was debating on fish and chips or chowder. I think fish and chips may be better elsewhere in that area.

Marutama Review
I've seen this place quite a bit online and passed it before but never tired. When I saw their menu I thought it's not that great but I still want to try. I've read that a celebrity chef likes this place, let's see how good it is.
We had to wait for a while in the cold but the line was moving fast. It's not very big in there so have to wait so. Staff were ok but they made us few rushed. The manager was always looking at the people, felt like they want us to eat faster. When my friend was done, they took away the bowl so fast.
Anyways, we both ordered the aka ramen ($14
The size could be bigger for that price. There were 2 pieces of cha sui. They were flavoured. It reminded me of something but now I don't remember what it was. The light green stuff, I believe it was seaweed in an interesting form. The ramen was ok texture and they used the thinner type. My friend bumped into another friend and she thought it was more on the soft size and how we can't pick texture of ramen.
The broth was quite good to me. Ok thickness. The flavour was just right, enough spiciness. There were also some spicy radish which were good but once it gets into the soup the spiciness is washed off. So it taste just like normal radish.
Overall, I don't think I would go again. To me it was normal. It's good but didn't wow me. Size can be bigger for that price.

Yamato Sushi Review
We were sure where to eat for dinner. Looked around online and found this place. Decided to go try. It was a bit of a walk in the cold from Vancouver City Centre but it's ok. The place is super tiny! Tons of people order take out or those delivery companies. The service was not bad. They ask to take away dishes as soon as you are done.
We ordered the sushi special C ($11.95) and bento box with beef ($12.95), thanks.
The portion was not bad for that price. Both had miso soup and salad. The miso soup was normal but not as salty. The salad was actually quite good. The salad sauce was good. I'm not sure what it was but the flavour was really yummy. It was unique and had a tang to it. I'm not a salad person and I finished it.
The sushi were good. I wish they gave cali rolls instead of kappa roll. The yam roll was sweet and crispy. The dynamite roll was ok. I couldn't tell it was tempura shrimp.
The bento box, I thought it had a lot of things in it. The tiny wonton things were crunchy but filling was quite tiny, couldn't tell about flavour. The tempura were super crispy, probably one of the best tempura. The beef was good, ok amount with rice and sprouts on the bottom. Cali roll is cali roll.
Overall, not bad at all. I will come back again. There have a lot of fancy rolls but they were on the pricey side so we didn't get them.

Little Saigon Review
Decided to try this place before going to this event in Yaletown. It wasn't busy when we got there and then got busier. I didn't really like the woman that worked there. She was ok at first but then she gave us water last when we were there before the other tables. At the end when I paid, she didn't thank me and seems like she has attitude. You should know what my answer will be at the end of this post.
We ordered the house special ($14) and the lemongrass chicken noodle ($12).
The size was ok. If you don't stir the noodle, it looks like the bowl has nothing in it except tons of soup. They put quite a lot of beef and other toppings into my house special. One of the beef were so hard to chew. I quite like the beef ball flavour. The soup base was alright, a bit light in flavour but it still tasted ok without adding any sauce. I decided to add some sauce to it. Taste better.
They put sprouts and basil on the side. Their soup were very hot so cooked the sprouts quite nice. I can't believe they don't have jalapenos.
The lemongrass chicken, when it came, it looked like there was nothing in it. There were only a few pieces of chicken. For the price I think you can give a bit more. The chicken tasted not bad though.
Overall, it's soso and no, will not come back again.

Thai Basil Review
A friend told me this place was not bad but I never had a chance to try it. We came here because the place we wanted to try was closed.
The place isn't very big but there were quite a few people in there. There were a few take outs as well.
We ordered the pad thai ($10.95) and eggplants & basil with beef ($10.95) plus small rice ($1.75), thanks.
Everything were quite good but I thought the portions were quite small. Someone thought so too, especially for a guy.
Pad thai was not bad. They used the thinner type of flat rice noodle. It taste and looked a bit different compared to other pad thai that I have tried. Someone thought the shrimps were done quite nice. To me the shrimps didn't have much flavour, just shrimp taste. I put 2 in someone's curry so maybe it tasted better? The tofu had a harder outer skin to it. I guess so it doesn't fall apart? The taste was kind of different, it had a tangy taste to it but it was not bad, quite good. I forgot but I think it had a kick to it?
The eggplant basil was quite good as well. The curry was ok spicy and very flavoured, it goes really well with the rice. The eggplant didn't really taste like normal eggplant to me. They said it's Japanese eggplant, not sure what is the difference between them but it was pretty good. My dish had raw bean sprouts so I had to put it into the curry to cook it up and it did.

Rocky Point Ice Cream Review
We were heading around this area so I looked up ice cream places. I've never tried this place so decided to go. I've actually seen their food truck in a few events but never tried them. It was empty in there. I guess because it's cold nowadays so people don't eat ice cream. I can eat it anytime of the year.
I tried 2 flavours and they are quite good, hokey pokey and double chocolate raspberry. Someone tried the brown butter pecan.
We ended up getting my flavours because someone said hokey pokey tasted better than the pecan one. 2 scoops were $6.
The hokey pokey was vanilla ice cream with butter honeycomb or something. The guy there said taste kind of like salted caramel and it did. It was very creamy.
The chocolate raspberry, like the name, don't really have to describe. There weren't a lot of raspberry taste to it though. I'm not sure why but part of the texture gave me a feeling that there were nuts or coconut in there. I'm guessing it was the chocolate chips?
Overall, not bad for the price. Taste was not bad too. I would have gotten it in a waffle cone but it's hard to share and eat with a cone. You also have to add money if you get waffle cone. They also have doggy cone, which is a doggy ice cream. I asked if human can eat it, he said yes but the kibbles might be a bit hard to eat.

Gyo-O Review
We wanted to try this place on a weekday but it opens at 12. Decided to come for dinner since we were running out of places to try. It still looks the same as years ago. Not very big in there, service was ok. I don't like how it's cash only.
We ordered the seafood miso ramen ($11.80) and the nabeyaki style udon ($12 something).
The portion was alright. I thought my miso ramen was lacking toppings. There were a lot of ramen which was ok. There were only 3 clams, 2 octopus rings and 2 shrimps. The flavour was not bad, enough flavour. The miso tasted different, it tasted like it had alcohol in it or something.
The udon was pretty good. The udon soaked up the soup flavour. The soup flavour was very light and it had a tobiko taste to it. The sashimi was not bad but I only took a bite. The tempura shrimps had a light crisp to it and super soft inside. The chicken were pretty good, crispy and very flavoured.
Overall, not bad. Still pretty good since years ago. I don't think they had ramen before but it's not bad. I may go back to eat again. Don't like how it's cash only.

Catch Kitchen and Bar Review
Friend picked this place so decided to come. It's ok nice up there, you get to see the water. We were seated near the more quiet place which was nice. We could talk better.
Service was ok. One thing I didn't like was I dropped one of my giraffe dolls and left and the waitress didn't pick it up. She knew I dropped it and when I went back she walked us back to the table and it was still on the floor... I think she said she forgot but at least pick it up and put it on your counter. What if it was an expensive jelewry, someone could have stolen it. But it was my fault as well for dropping it and not look around before I leave.
Anyways, I ordered the crispy cod burger ($17.50). Friends got the fish and chips ($15) and egg benny's ($13).
I thought my burger was ok pricey for that size. Most caucasian restaurants are ok expensive so I guess it's normal. The bun was ok big, had to eat them separately or I'll make a mess. The cod wasn't crispy, I guess because of the tar tar sauce. Cod was ok small for the price. The curly fries didn't look that curly to us, they were in small pieces but some were really long and curled up. It had a nice spice to it which I like.
Overall, it's ok. I may or may not come back, nothing else I want to try. When someone picked me up and we went back to find gariffe, someone said it's not bad inside.

BBT Cafe Review
Someone picked this place so we decided to go try. The place is ok size. Not very bright in there, I guess nice for dates? Service was alright, quite nice.
We ordered the fish thick soup noodle ($11.95) and salty chicken nugget noodle ($12.95).
Both looked quite good, portion was big but both were very bland in taste. I wish they added more salt. My fish noodle had this thickish soup. The taste of the soup was interesting. After a bit I realize it's some kind of satay sauce (sa cha sauce). The noodle was a yellow noodle and it was not bad. There were a lot of veggie pieces and stuff. The fish had a light crisp but very bland as well. If it had more salty taste, it would be really good. The fish was very soft though.
The salty chicken noodle used a white noodle, it was not bad as well. The soup was bland. We both thought the chicken was not bad, at least it had taste but still lighter than most places.
Overall, not bad but can be better on the flavour. No, don't think I would come back again. I would if they had a better flavour. Maybe they are going down the healthy line?
We ordered the fish thick soup noodle ($11.95) and salty chicken nugget noodle ($12.95).

Rice Noodle Review
Heard about this place from a friend so decided to try. We were seated for not long, this woman came to us and spoke in mandarin. We don't understand but I said not ready, she walked off. She came again saying something in Chinese. We don't understand and she screams out someone's name and said speaks english. I'm like... This girl and guy came and I said she was saying something to us but we are not ready yet. Then they walked off.
One part of the menu were all in Chinese so if you don't know how to read, you will have no clue what it is. I know basic so I knew what it was.
We ordered the tomatoe one ($13.75) and the chicken noodle plus spam and spare ribs ($7.99+1.50+2). Thanks!
My tomatoe one was not bad but I think these noodle places can give more toppings than that. One slice of different meat, like seriously? I really like those kind of noodle, very soft and good. The bowl was super huge but we had free refill of noodle. I thought it wasn't enough for me. I was kind of starving around 11pm which is not normal.
The chicken noodle doesn't come with any meat, the waiter said. Uh, so why do you name it chicken noodle then??? So we had to add toppings ourselves. What a rip off! The spam, 2 slice but technically it's one slice chopped in half. I can buy a whole freaking can for $1.50, cheap much!? The spare ribs were ok but can also put more in for the price! The spare rib had this spice to it, not spicy but some kind of spice. That bowl was a bit plain to me. The noodle were thin noodle, I didn't like that much.
Overall, never again. Service was yea... Food was good but would be nice if they gave more than just that for the price. Like how much does it costs? Normally, these types of restaurants are try once and never again. Too many out there.

Kokoro Ramen Review
Wanted to try this place for awhile but never had a chance. Either they were closed for maintenance or we had other plans. The tables were interesting in there. I think the middle big table took up a lot of space, weird shaped too. The place got busy as we ate. Service ok I guess? When we were done, took them awhile to realize. When they took our bowls away, you would expect them to bring the bill but no. We sat there for a bit and someone had to ask for it.
Anyways, we ordered the umami ($14.50) and kokuton ($13.50), thanks.
The size was ok. Umami was a miso base so quite flavoured. When I tried it and while eating, the flavour wasn't that strong. When I was done and trying the soup again, I thought it was too salty. The noodle was good. I like how they deep fried the chicken, some places give chicken breast pieces. It was still crunchy but the part that was in water was a bit soggy. The flavour was quite good, chicken was still very tender. I didn't like the long pieces of onions or leek? It was so strong and I feel like that taste was still there after a long time. The meat paste on top was a bit spicy. I didn't want to mix it in with the noodle because I know it will be all gone but I decided to stir it after eating a bit of it. It gave the whole bowl a kick which was good.
The chasui from kokuton was normal, wasn't really flavoured to me like some places. The soup had a light garlic taste to it.
Overall, it was okay but most likely won't come back again.

Kumme Cafe Review
I saw this place a while ago online when I was trying to find an ice cream place. Decided to try it this time. It's tiny in there but ok. The woman was very nice and she seemed very passionate in making her drinks and trying to make it pretty.
I got the honeydew with pearls ($6), don't think they add money for pearls because my total was only $6.30.
They made it from fresh fruits. I didn't see but it taste like no sugar added drink. Normal bubble tea places add lots of sugar into their drink or use powder. It was light in taste but still had the honeydew taste. The pearls had no sweetness taste to it, some places put them in syrup.
I thought that was it but they actually offer to put ice cream and popping bubble on top of it. I was like OH. We already paid so there was no extra cost to it. She topped mine with vanilla and tiger tiger which was good. Tiger tiger was orange ice cream with some kind of black syrup, I didn't like the syrup much.
Friend got the ube smoothie ($6.80, tax included).
Overall, I thought $6 was pricey but it was from fresh fruit so it's not bad for the price. The size was a large, you can choose small as well. Plus you get pearls and add on as well for that price. Can't really get that at these other bubble places. I like how the couple there were very nice and passionate. Will come back again.
However, I thought their location was located at the quite end of Robson. I'm not sure how long they will last.

Flower and Horse in Spring Review
I saw this place online when I was searching for noodle and the name of this place attracted me. They try to translate it from their Chinese name which was funny. The place isn't very big and it got busier as we were eating.
We ordered the hot in a pot ($14.95) and hardcore ($13.95).
Hot in a pot, I wish they would put it in a different pot, I kind of touched it a bit when I was trying to stir my noodle. The taste was ok, it had a light spiciness to it which was good or else my tummy will burn again. The noodle was the type that I like. There weren't a lot of interesting toppings as you can see. I thought my bowl was quite small for the price.
Hardcore, I would get that if it didn't have pork intestine in it.
Overall, just ok, no, don't think I'll come back again. Nothing special and ok pricey.

Penang Delight Cafe Review
Decided to take someone here. I saw it online and it seemed ok. It wasn't too big in there, tables were filling up after a bit and people were waiting at the door. Service was soso. The woman kept asking if we were ready to order and when I paid at the front she didn't say thank you.
We ordered 2 noodle, prawn meehoon and mee ($11.95) , fried prawn hokkian mee ($12.95) and beef skewers ($7.45).
The fried noodle was quite good to me. It had enough flavor without adding the spicy shrimp paste sauce. The colour of the dish looked very plain. It had a few shrimp and squid pieces. They had a bouncy texture to it. We both liked the 2 different noodle in it. It had the yellow noodle and this rice noodle. The shrimp paste sauce was ok spicy but a good dipping sauce for the seafood since those don't have much taste to it.
The other noodle to me lack in taste but it has a sweetness to it which was not bad. There was a tiny spiciness to it but not really. Someone liked the soup. I liked the fish cake in there, I always like those. There were some seafood, egg and meat in there. This one used 2 different types of noodle as well, one was yellow noodle and thin vermicelli. The vermicelli had more taste than the yellow noodle.
The beef skewers were just soso. It had enough flavour but some weren't very tender. I had one with hard tenden which was really hard to eat. The sauce wasn't very peanut sauce to us. I thought it had a sweetness to it, a little mango taste and there were a few peanut bites in it.
Overall, it was ok, not bad. I don't think I would go again though because nothing else I want to try and that woman didn't even thank me.

Sushi Mura Review
Someone decided to go here with his friend and wife. We have been to the other location ourselves. This location was bigger and the decor was nicer. It wasn't as crowded as the old location.
We ordered quite a few dishes. Crazy rabbit roll ($9.95), dragon roll ($6.50), cali roll ($3.25), futomaki roll ($4), special mango roll ($9.95), assorted tempura roll ($8.95), deep fried cali ($5.95) and 2 miso soups ($1.50 each). Someone paid for it, thanks.
I liked the crazy rabbit roll the most. Not sure why it's called that but ok. Sucks how it only comes in 5 pieces. I'm not sure what was inside the roll because it was topped with tempura flakes and there was a spicy sauce on it. I've never tried a roll with veggie wrapped around it like this. It was ok big for a sushi.
Special mango roll had a sweetness from the mango and pineapple and I also tasted something salty, not sure what it was.
The futomaki was not bad, it had a sweetness to it which was not bad.
The dragon roll was soso to me. I guess because it was like a avocado roll with a little bit of masago in it and topped with unagi. I thought the taste was interesting but not something I really like.
The deep fried cali roll didn't taste as good as the other location for some reason.
The tempura were crispy. Cali roll was normal but good.
Overall, not bad and will come again. I was a bit disappointed that their sushi were like falling apart.

Happy Tree House Review
Friend wanted to come here for dinner. I always pass by it but never went in because I'm not a big fan of skewers and they are always pricey. It's ok size in there. I quite like the décor but the chair was somewhat hard on the bum. Their washroom were a bit smelly and I don't think they change the garbage cans, it was so filled up.
Service was ok I guess? We had to ask for bowls and spoon, not sure why they don't just provide it to us. They changed our plates after a bit. Most memorable was when we were leaving and the waiter asked if he can clean the table. Uh, ya, since we are leaving...
We ordered quite a few things, the cod fish with preserved veggie ($45), chicken wings and lamb skewers, lotus roots and something (not sure about price), thanks.
I know there are tons of this fish places out there and it's my first time trying. It was actually not bad. The fish was very soft and smooth. No fishy smell/taste to me. The fish didn't have that preserved veggie taste to it. The veggie was very good though, I always like eating those. After a bit I thought everything tasted very salty. The fish was ok big with some bones. The price is ok pricey but I'm not sure how much a fish costs out there.
I tried the chicken wings, it was ok, very tender but not too special to me. Not sure about the beef but friends liked them.
The lotus root had no taste to me and it was pricey. The lotus were very crispy, I think it was raw? Not sure. The other dish had a spiciness to it. To me, it was ok but I don't like that spiciness taste. Reminds me of that noodle that I tried and had the exact same spiciness to it. Both were soso to me so I didn't eat much and focused on the fish.
Overall, it was ok, very pricey. No, don't think I would come back again or try other fish places. Tried once and I'm done.

Otaru Sushi Review
Decided to try these place, ok close to home but never really ate in this mall. I'm not sure why they had to seat us by the door when there were empty tables inside, it was cold every time the door opens! Service was ok I guess?
We ordered the Otaru roll ($12.95), red roll, some aburi roll and salmon sushi. I don't know names or pricing because I can't remember and not much info online.
My favourite roll was the otaru roll, maybe because it has the sauce and it was good? The tempera prawn was still ok crisp.
The aburi one would be my next favourite, it was different from the traditional boxes aburi sushi. It was roll but had the same idea. It had a little kick to it from the jalapeno, They rolled it over tiny fish roe.
Least favourite was the red roll. It's not bad but seemed normal. It was ok spicy. With these spicy rolls you can't taste much except the spiciness. You can't tell how fresh the sashimi are.
Overall, it alright, not bad. I think I would come again. I wanted to try the spider roll but they didn't have it, fine... Oh and the size of the sushi were ok small for the price, I don't get why can't they make it a bit bigger, it would attract more people to come.

Mambo Cafe Review
Someone wanted to eat this. I think we will try every stall in this food court lol!
We ordered the stir fried beef noodle and the Saturn pork chop spaghetti (both $10 something), thanks.
My beef noodle was lacking taste, we both had better beef noodle than that. The beef was ok soft but no flavour.
The Saturn pork chop looks normal but the pork chop was ok flavoured and very soft as well. The sauce tasted like ketchup, not like the normal spaghetti sauce. The ham was ham, flavoured.
Overall, the size was definitely ok for the price. My dish just lacked flavour. No, don't think I would try again, next stall lol!

Soy Talk Review
Finally get to try this place. We wanted to when they first open but their ice cream machine broke down, like really? It's not every big in there but the décor was nice. There were a few people there when we were there. Their ice cream menu didn't have much on there. Well, there were a few flavoured but then they crossed them out on the menu at the cashier. They said they only have matcha and soy flavour.
We got both soy and matcha flavour ($5.50 each).
The size was ok I guess. We both thought it looked funny, yea, you know. I liked the soy more, it has a light soy flavour. I like it when the soy flavour is stronger but not a lot of places make them strong. The pearls were a bit warm in the beginning, chewy and a light sweetness to it. There were these dry pork like shaving, someone said don't think it's pork because the dude told him it's all vegetarian? I wonder what they made those with then, kind of cool.
The matcha flavour had a light matcha taste to it as well. I guess if it's too strong, it covers the soy taste?
Overall, I think it was ok but we feel like they won't last long. I should have tried their tofu pudding but that was like $10... if it was made with gold, I would try. But it was just normal tofu pudding.

Pho Hoa Review
Haven't been to this place for so long, I believe they renovated the place, looks different. We came because I got a coupon in the mail. Service was ok I guess.
We got the spicy pho ($10.50) and the all beef pho ($9.55) and a summer roll ($3.95). Buy one get one so no $9.55. I don't think they charge tips as well, I saw them take someone's card and swiped. Thanks.
I wanted the just enough size for mine but they said that one only has regular or large. The waiter gave someone my regular bowl and someone gave it back to me. The waiter said oh, normally guys eat that size, he seemed shocked. Not that I didn't want the smaller one but you guys don't let.
Anyways, my spicy pho was different from the other places. This one had a coconut milk taste to it which I prefer them not adding. I like the normal place where it's just spicy peanut taste. This wasn't that spicy. The beef felt a bit overcooked but still ok to chew. The noodle were soft and I wish they would put more in. Normally when I eat pho I get ok full but I think I got a bit hungry after this.
The normal pho was not bad, Enough flavour.
The summer roll looked disappointing to me, it looked so white. It tasted ok but they put in raw sprouts and I hate it raw! So told someone to eat it all.
Overall, it's not a bad place if you don't want to spend too much. Food was just soso. I would still come back but tons of other places to try.

Kanzo Sushi Review
Decided to take someone here. Reviews were ok and they have purple looking rice. When we got there, there was only one other table there. Then it got busy and quite a few people got take out. There were a few people that came to eat before the Canucks game. They also do 10% off for take out. Service was good.
We ordered the roll combo ($10.50), beef bento box ($11.95) and the deep fried cali roll ($4.95).
We choose brown rice, but they only gave brown rice to us for the rolls not bento. The deep fried cali was not bad. We thought this other place was better because they put more sauce on. Their cali rolls are different because they have tons of imitation crab in it, 1 or 2 thin slice of cucumber and no avocado. We thought the brown rice had enough flavour without dipping soy sauce. I thought it had a sweetness to it. The batter was very thin and it had a crisp to it.
The roll combo looked a lot. They put lots of stuffing into the dynamite roll. It was exploding on each end. They added this tiny tempura shrimp and thin slice of yam in it, tons of imitation crab. The cali was same as deep fried but without the fried part. The salmon roll, they put very little salmon in.
The bento box, I wish they had more sauce for the beef. There were tons on a few slice and the rest had little to nothing. The cali were same as the brown rice ones but with white rice. The deep fried dumpling had a light crisp to it, tasted not bad. The miso soup was a bit different to me. I think they used beef broth or something, colour was so dark. Veggie dressing was ok, had a tang to it.
Overall, not bad but I think they can put more stuffing in for that price and not just imitation crab. Yes, I would come back again.

Zui Yun Nan Review
Decided to try this new ish place. It was empty in there, there was one table that came after us after a bit. The old restaurant in this location was dead too for some reason, maybe bad luck spot? The service was ok I guess? She pretty much stayed at the cashier most of the time.
I ordered the pepper one ($11.95).
The size is normal compared to other yun nan noodle places. Dump everything in again. There were a few pieces of meat at the bottom. The noodle came a bit later and a friend and I thought it was a bit over cooked. It was very very soft. Other friends thought it had a chewy texture, don't know. There were these root like bamboo kind of stuff that I didn't like, tasted weird to me. Other stuff were very normal that I don't think I need to describe.
The soup was very spicy. I tried to drink it and it had this burning feeling to my throat and it was killing my stomach a bit afterwards.
Overall, soso, I feel like it won't last long, too quiet in there and tons of these restaurants nowadays.

Hime Sushi Review
Someone had 2 places in mind and decided to pick this one. It was ok busy in there. At first they seated us at the bar then we asked to change to table when people left.
We got the spicy seafood udon ($13.50), the asari pasta ($12.50) and the hime roll ($5.95), thanks.
The seafood udon looked quite nice, very red. It wasn't that spicy, a little but it had a tiny sweetness to it. I guess because there were tons of onion? The udon was more on the soft side and I like it a little chewy. It had enough flavour. There were quite a few tiny clams and shrimps, a mussel, a pink fish cake like thing, small cabbage and tons of onion.
The asari pasta which was a yaki udon was quite good. It was garlic cream flavour. To me, it wasn't that garlic but has enough flavour. There were bonito shaving on top and someone was so amused, so cute. The other table was looking at the bonito moving too. There was a few clams on it but very tiny.
The hime roll was not bad. It's almost like a normal roll. I like how it has tamago in it so it has this sweetness to it. We thought there would be more than 5 pieces for that price.
Overall, not bad at all. Even better if the portion was bigger for the price.

Firecrust Neapolitan Pizzeria Review
Someone likes pizza but knows I don't like cheese so never picked a pizza place. I can still eat even if I don't like. Decided to take someone here because someone likes the fire type of baking pizza. The place is ok size. Service was good. It was our first time there so didn't know how the build your own pizza work.
We got the build your own pizza ($12.95 + $1.50 add on fee). I asked the gal about toppings, she said 5-6 toppings or it will be soggy but she didn't say there would be an add on fee but whatever, it wasn't that much.
We added anchovies, bacon, salami, green pepper and tomatoe as toppings. We half the sauce, tomatoe and pesto, added oregano. We had the mozzarella cheese on one side only.
Someone made me eat a bit of the cheese one, it was ok, couldn't really taste the cheese, I guess I can eat with cheese next time.
We both thought the anchovies had a strong salty taste which I really like. The crust was very thin but part of it was burnt. The pesto side was a bit oily, it totally soaked through onto the plate. Everything tasted really good though, we both liked it.
Overall, not bad for the price, the size was ok big too, we shared. We will come again.

Yah Yah Ya Review
Tried this place in Richmond long time ago. We passed by the one in Downtown and thought it looked nice. Then we realized it was Yah Yah Ya. The place was ok size and service was ok but for some reason I didn't really like that waitress. Maybe because she doesn't seem to like me.
We ordered the abura soba ($10.75) and the garlic miso ($12.25), thanks.
The abura soba looked kind of plain but the flavour was ok. The oil didn't taste like sesame oil, just plain oil to me. Not a lots of sauce but had enough flavour so it was good. The shredded cha sui was normal to me. The egg was jelly like but not super marinated like the ones I have tried before. Good thing they cook their sprout or else I don't know how to eat them. The noodle had a nice texture. For this ramen, you can't choose texture of noodle, flavour and oil amount.
The garlic miso, I didn't really taste the garlic but it was a strong broth, someone got the heavy taste one so I guess that's why.
Overall, it's ok. I guess I will come back again but tons of others to try.

Benkei Ramen Review
Decided to try this place, the pictures looked ok. It's ok size in there and very busy. We had to wait for a bit. Service was ok but the guy that brought the food over almost hit my head with the serving tray...
We both ordered the akaoni deluxe ($13.95).
The size was ok and presentation was nice. To me the taste was just plain spicy, no saltiness taste to me. It was lacking something, not sure. The ramen was right texture. I really like their egg, it was nicely marinated and the yolks was like a jello. The cha sui was a bit lean to me but had enough flavour, a bit like burnt flavour.
My friend liked it.
Overall, it was ok and don't think I would come back. Still lot of other ones to try.

Sampal Review
Once again...we wanted to try another restaurant but it was closed so decided to try this one. It wasn't too busy so we got seat right away. At first we thought we were getting the small table at the very back but we got this huge table at the back. Service was ok.
One super huge warning! Be super careful because they clean tables and chairs with bleach and it bleached my leggings. At first I thought my leggings felt weird, thought it was the oil from all the bbq but when I got home I realized my leggings were ruined. The butt area was all bleached up. That was one disappointing thing from them!
Anyways, we ordered the army hot pot ($28), thanks!
The pot looks different from the picture, doesn't look as full. They brought the ramen later and I thought what? no ramen in a army stew hot pot? I like how they put the cheese on the side because I don't like cheese. There weren't a lot of toppings in that hot pot. Quite a few spam and sausage slices, few rice cake, kimchi, mushroom, and green onion.
Near the end, we had to ask for more soup but took them so long to get it. I was already done cooking the noodle then that dude poured it in...
I liked their side dishes the most, so sad. There was one dish with sweet soy sauce radish with jalapeno. The taste was like those sweet potatoe side dish with a little kick to it. I could finish my bowl of rice just with that, so good. The fish cake pieces were normal. Kimchi was normal kimchi. I kinda like their rice because I ate the whole bowl and I didn't feel stuffed.
Overall, I thought the hot pot wasn't worth the price, at least the material used was not worth it. Someone thought it was not a bad price. I'm very unhappy about my legging but nothing I can do. And no I will not come back, the food was alright but they killed my legging, I won't forget.

Bun Cha Ca Hoang Yen Review
We wanted to try another place but it was closed for maintenance...seriously? So we decided to go here, has been on my list for this fall/winter time.
It was quite packed in there but we didn't have to wait. We were sharing tables with 3 other people... If we were still at getting to know each other stage, it would be awkward. So don't come here on a date. Service was ok fast, I guess everything is pretty much made, just dump everything in.
We ordered special crap soup ($11.95) and the house special ($10.95).
My crap soup was different from normal pho. It had a light seafood taste to it but not strong crab taste. There were little yellow, white things floating, not sure if it's crab stuff? The noodle, they didn't use normal flat rice noodle but the yun nan typed of round rice noodle. I kind of wish they had more toppings. There were 3 slices of Vietnamese ham, a tomatoe, 2 tofu puffs and 2 shrimps. Not sure if there were beef or not because someone was giving some to me.
The house special soup was pretty flavoured. Tendon was big and no taste, had to add sauce.
Overall, it's alright. Not the best pho I've had but tons of people here. Might not come back again, tried what I wanted already.

Dae Ji Cutlet Review
Someone wanted to try this place. I've been to the downtown one before and I quite like it. This one wasn't that big but ok. The waitress seem very disorganized and don't know what to do or something. She lead us to this table but then said hold on. She separated 2 tables and cleaned it. She never brought us water, we flagged her down for it. I overheard the other table asking her for sharing plates and water again. When we ordered, she doesn't seem very familiar with menu.
Anyways, we ordered the curry chicken cutlet ($12.99) and chicken cutlet curry rice ($10.99), thanks!.
When mine came, I was shocked because there were so much rice on it, like maybe 2 bowls! There were only a little bit of curry which I was disappointed with because there are so much rice, how am I gonna finish it? I had to mix the curry with the rice right away or else I won't have enough at the end. The curry was good, enough flavour and had a kick to it. I thought the curry was more on the orange side. It had a salad on the side and it was good, light tangy dressing. The miso soup was very light in taste.
The curry chicken cutlet looked better than mine. At least not that much rice. That one had a macaroni with it, that one was quite spicy.
Overall, not bad for the price but I think it used to be better. I may come again when I crave curry rice but definitely not ordering that big rice dish again.

Billy Button Review
Friend wanted to try this place and I had it on my list so decided to go try. It's very tiny and super dark in there. Great way to save on electrical bills. It was empty there when we went. It's either we are too early or people already tried and don't want to come anymore. Or saw the price and don't want to try.
We ordered the garden ($12) and mushroom ($13.50).
The garden was very pretty, very garden like. When I cut into it, it was very soft and a little hard to cut because the cucumber won't break. The cucumber just tasted like normal cucumber but it made the dessert very fresh and not filling. The cream inside had a lemon taste to it, very refreshing and it wasn't super sweet.
The red powder on the side had a tangy taste. We asked the girl about it but I'm not sure what she said exactly. The garnish on the side was ok. The cookie like piece had raisin or something sweet in it. The little grass piece is very green tasting. The flower taste green too.
The mushroom, friend thought it's shaped interestingly like you know what. That didn't come to my mind when I first saw it lol. I just thought it was cute. The top part of the mushroom, I thought it had a harder outer texture to it and the inside was filled with chocolate cream. I'm guessing they used dark chocolate so friend thought it was bitter. The bottom part had cream, jam and a little cake. I thought eating the bottom part with the top part was a good balance in taste.
Overall, both were super nicely presented but I honestly think it's on the pricey side. You are just eating cream... The portion was small too. But that's how you do business nowadays I guess, expensive small potion. Not sure if I would come again.

Noodlebox Review
We wanted to try this dessert place so decided to pick something closer to it. I found this place because the pictures look yummy. It looks ok nice in there, like an open kitchen style. No service but they bring the food to you.
I ordered the buddha bowl ($9.50+3.50) and friend got the spicy peanut noodle box ($10.50+3.50). The extra $3.50 is for the cha sui pork that we added to our bowl.
When I saw my bowl, I thought it was really nicely presented but I also saw all raw veggie! Most were not what I like to eat... I gave the parsley to friend. I normally don't eat red pepper but I ate them all, all raw too! But it didn't have that super strong red pepper taste to me which I was surprised. I'm so glad they have this sauce for me to mix my veggies in or else I don't think I can eat this bowl alone. It would be overly dry and just ew.
And I don't understand why they don't cook the bean sprouts!? They were raw! You know you can get sick from raw bean sprouts? And you know how nasty raw bean sprouts taste? That taste lingers in your mouth for so long.
Anyways, the cha sui was very different compared to the normal Chinese ones. It had a tangy sauce on it. It was unique, well flavoured and good. The pork was a bit hard to chew but ok. Without this meat I think I would be very sad during the whole meal...
The sauce that came with my bowl had a tangy and spicy flavour to it. I thought a bit salty on it's own but very good with the whole bowl. It's almost like a poke.
I tried a bit of the noodle, it tasted nice. I wonder if they used the same sauce for every bowl? It had a tangy curry ish taste to it. I couldn't taste the spiciness just with one strand. The noodle was nice. I think I would prefer that bowl compared to mine.
Overly, not bad but I prefer cooked veggie as an Asian. I thought they are trying to be an Asian restaurant? You have to learn how Asians eat. There were more Caucasians than Asians that came in for food. Most likely won't go again.
