We got there right when they opened, there were people waiting to be seated. We asked the girl about parking because it said first 90 minutes is free. We didn't understand her but we heard the word free.
Before we were seated I overheard other customers saying "hope we have enough space, have you seen their tables? So tiny". Right when I heard that, I looked and thought, that is pretty small. The place is ok big, it doesn't look big near entrance but there were more spots on the side.
We ordered the spicy pork belly ($22.95), budae stew ($15) and ddeokbokki ($9.95).
Friend told me about one review, "expensive and small portion". Yup, saw it with my own eyes. That pork belly... 4 thin slices for $23. Those are some expensive pork belly. You know T&T is just across the street? They should let us buy meat from T&T and they can just charge us service fee like Korea. Honestly, 4 slices... my wallet is crying.
My friend also said "service wasn't good. One table had 4 people serving them". Service was ok, the guy helped us cooked the meat and we didn't get that many people serving us. One thing about service, they already had our bill ready sitting beside us when I was still working on my food. The whole time I felt pressured. The dude who served us kept looking at us/table which also gave me pressure. There were lots of empty tables, why do you have to give us that pressure?
Anyways, pork belly, I thought it was ok marinated but not as spicy as I thought. It was easy to chew. There were different dips like spicy sauce, sesame oil, soy sauce, onion sauce and something else. I thought it tasted good with the sweet soy sauce and sesame oil one.
The budae stew looked nothing like the picture since everything were at the bottom. I had to dig them back up for a picture. I believe this is the army stew. I can make that at home. I did 2 years ago. There were few slices of fish cakes, sausages, spam, tofu and ramen. It was quite spicy but tasted alright.
Ddeokbokki, rice cake is one of my favourite thing to eat. This dish was also quite spicy but had a tiny bit of sweetness to me. The rice cake were very chewy and soft. It didn't get hard even after awhile. There were also some fish cake.
Their side dishes could have been better. The kimchi was really spicy. The spicy salad was ok. I really like the squash or something with potatoe. It really helped with clearing the spiciness in the mouth.
The sides on the cooking pan thing. I don't know why they dont fill that other empty side up, it would look so much better. The egg had a tiny bit of sweetness to it, it was soft. The corn were really sweet.
Overall, I think it tastes ok but I find their meat super expensive for such a small portion. No, don't think I'll go back again, I have already tried what I wanted to.
