Daan Korean Cuisine Review

I was running out of places to eat as usual and then I saw this place. It's somewhat new and it's near where I used to live. Once again thank you for dinner!

It's not a very big place. When we got there we had to wait for a table but I saw 2 seats that were empty the whole time...at the end we were seated there anyways. I don't understand why they made us wait for a table when they have the spot. Weird.

Other than that the service was not bad. The girl that worked there looked familiar but I'm not sure where I've seen her before. Now I think about it, it may be this girl from school when I studied in early childhood education. Oh well.

Anyways, we ordered stone bowl al-bap ($12.99) and the spicy pork homestyle Korean BBQ meal ($14.99).

I thought the stone bowl was pretty unique because it's not like the traditional type with veggie and egg. Well, it had the same idea but different types of veggie and masago instead of an egg. It looked really pretty too, purple-ish, my favourite. It also came with a spicy sauce, to me it was so much more spicy compared to the one I had before for these stone bowls. The masago kind of got cooked while you stir everything up. I love the crispy rice from the bottom, so good. I thought the portion was a bit small compared to other places I've been to.

The spicy pork was really spicy but it was good. That set also came with a rice and a soy bean hotpot.

There were 3 side dishes, bean spouts, kimchi and potatoes. Bean spouts had a salty taste, kimchi was super spicy and potatoe were soft and sweet. You can't eat the kimchi alone, it's too spicy. I ate it with some bean spouts and potatoe to balance out the spiciness. Even my friend who can eat pretty spicy said it's spicy.

Overall, not bad but I wish the portion was a bit bigger. I don't think I would come back again, nothing else I really want to try on their menu.
