Friend wanted to try this place so we went. It was ok size in there. They all speak Mandarin there but they play Cantonese music. The service was ok I guess.
I thought it was weird how they put this "wall" between few tables and washroom. If you have to go washroom, you have to walk around this wall to go. That wall takes up a lot of space too. Washroom was huge and it was just one stall...
Anyways, most of us ordered the noodle, 2 spicy and 1 tomatoe ($12-13). One seafood pancake ($6 something).
The noodle was normal, just like those other Yun Nan noodle places. My spicy noodle was ok spicy, I could feel the spiciness on my lips. The noodle were good, not super soft. The size was ok, not too big. There were beef slices at the bottom. We thought the soup wasn't that hot because it stopped sizzling so fast while we took quick pictures. It didn't cook my bean curd that well, it was still ok hard.
In my opinion, I think it's pricey. For the price we pay, we only get these tiny dishes of sides to put into the noodle. No, I don't think I would come again. I guess people come for their fancy looking box.

Kokomo Review
I saw this place with ice cream so decided to go eat and have ice cream as well. It's a veggie based restaurant. It's not very big in there. You share this big table with everyone else so it's hard to talk and it's quite quiet in there, even harder to talk.
Service, I thought it was serve yourself, but the lady did bring our food to us and utensils as well. But I put the bowls in the buckets myself. They do take it if you leave it there but yea.
I ordered the golden laksa noodle ($13) and friend got the nood beach 2.0 ($15).
The laksa was similar to normal ones. I thought it was more coconut taste than normal, a bit bland to me. I thought the whole thing was zucchini noodle but only a few and the rest were rice noodle. That's ok, I'll probably prefer rice noodle over zucchini. The flexseed looking stuff on top had a salty taste to it, I thought it was tasteless.
I like the flavour of the nood beach because it kind of have this cumin flavour and I like it, it taste like an Indian dish. This dish was so pretty, way prettier than mine. It also used rice noodle in it. It was more like a mixed or salad type of noodle.
Overall, I thought it was soso, maybe too healthy for me and I'm not that healthy. I'll go back to my bad food.

Pho Thai Hoa Review
Someone picked this restaurant so decided to try. It was ok big in there but not a lot of people. There were a few tables of people. Service was ok. When they gave us our water, I see this brown colour in it. It wasn't completely brown, it was like a fading brown. I know it's tea but never really seen that before. I believe they put ice in and pour tea over it. Someone thought it was just tea stain, um, no haha! It's just cold tea, better than tap water.
We ordered the pork pattie rolls ($7), #26 pho ($10.50) and the lemongrass chicken combo ($12).
My pho was normal pho, enough flavour. They used thin flat noodle which was nice, noodle didn't break easily. Some of the beef were very hard to chew, maybe in hot soup for too long? The tendon was hard to chew and no taste at all. The fatty beef was good and soft. The tripes were "crunchy", soft crunchy, not crispy crunchy. The size is actually ok for the price. A lot of noodle, which was good because normally pho places don't really give a lot of beef.
The lemongrass chicken was well flavoured but we thought it was a bit over cooked. The combo was ok big and it came with a soup. I don't know how to describe the soup taste, it was different from the pho soup. Someone thinks it's chicken soup but they put a pork meat in it. Maybe it's both chicken and pork?
The pork pattie rolls were quite good compared to the ones we tried at T&T. It's like a normal salad roll. I like how they used soured veggie in there, would be nice if they made the lettuce sour too. They also added this spring roll wrapper in it so it was crispy. The pork pattie itself doesn't have much taste. I thought it would taste like Chinese sausage or something. The wrapper was harder to chew once it gets cold.
Overall, not bad, I would come again but there are tons of pho places we haven't tried.

Mimibuloveme Review
Someone always pick interesting name restaurants. Someone wanted to try this place so we decided to go try. It's not very big in there and it was ok empty. The service was ok.
We ordered the spicy ramen and the shoyu ramen.
The spicy ramen wasn't that spicy. The noodle was on the softer side, not chewy. The egg is normal nothing too special.
The shoyu, their broth seems different from normal ones. It was a light broth taste which was nice.
Overall, we both thought it was just ok. Nothing special. Me, I dont think I would come back again.

Matcha Cafe Maiko Review
I came here when they kind of first opened but someone infront of us ordered a huge batch of stuff and it was hot so we left. Decided to come here again to see if they finally have the gold foil.
I couldn't hear the cashier talk at all and she seem so dead...
Anyways, I got the shogun ($9.99) with matcha, vanilla ice cream and hojicha powder on top.
The size was ok big but I do think the cone is on the pricey side. You know I will pay just to try something cool. This is more like a once and never again thing.
Does it taste like gold, no, I don't taste anything with the ice cream together. Not my first time eating edible gold. I didn't taste anything the first time either when I had it. It's just fancy.
The ice cream, we thought it had a light matcha taste to it and maybe the vanilla made it even lighter?
The cone was ok, had a light vanilla taste to it.
I don't think I will come again, tried what I wanted to already. The other stuff are ok expensive there.

Samsoonie Review
Second time here. Friend wanted to try this place so decided to come. It was pretty busy in there.
We ordered a spicy chewy noodle ($10.99), pan fried dumplings ($5.49) and seafood pancake ($10.99).
The spicy chewy noodle was pretty big. Without the spicy sauce, the noodle has no taste. The texture was kind of chewy. There were a lot of veggie on top.
The dumplings were quite good. It was crispy and the filling was different compared to other places. The meat was pink colour and lighter in taste.
The seafood pancake was not bad but I've had better. There were lots of squid in it. I don't remember it being crispy. It tasted better with the dip sauce.
Overall, not bad, I will still come back.

Sushi Lover Review
Someone suggested this place so we went. It was very tiny in there and we had to wait for a bit. If you want a table, make a reservation, this person made a reservation and got the big table just in time.
Service was ok. At least she noticed we needed tea when we put the pot lid up.
We ordered the roll combo ($8.95) and the mango cali roll ($3.65).
Honestly, all the rolls were very very normal. Someone liked it though. The mango cali was very fresh, the mango had a sweet taste which was nice. The dynamite roll seems a bit different from normal ones. If I remember correctly, isn't dynamite fried shrimp, I didn't think it was crispy.
Their tea cups and pots are nice but super tiny.
I may come back again but maybe no, I've had better sushi and lots of other ones to try.

Mr.Bro Review
We saw this place last time when we were walking to a restaurant. Finally decided to come. I noticed their lunch menu looks better than their dinner so came for lunch, thanks.
The inside is quite dark because it's all black in there. The service was good, I believe it's one of the owner and he keeps asking if everything is ok.
We ordered the black bean noodle with sweet and sour pork ($13.75), the spicy buckwheat noodle with spare ribs ($16.75). We also found a coupon code online so we got the friend chicken skin for free.
The black bean noodle was not bad. The noodle was right texture. We both don't know how to describe the taste. To me, the sauce kinda have a light mushroom taste to it but don't see any. There were some little meat bites and onions and stuff. Egg was normal egg.
The sweet and sour pork is the normal Korean type. Remember to dip the sauce when you eat it. I thought the batter had a chewy texture. The sauce was the right taste. It was tangy but not overly sour or sweet.
The spicy buckwheat noodle was nice too. The noodle was a little different from normal. It was lighter in colour and looks thinner to me. It was spicy but not too crazy, at least someone didn't say it was. I like the radish in there. They added 2 pineapple bites in there which I thought was interesting because I never had cold noodle with pineapple in it before.
The spare ribs were good. Enough flavour and it wa very very soft. We both liked it a lot.
The fried chicken skin, we thought they forgot about it because all our food came and we still don't see it but he brought it over to us later. It was very crispy and it reminds me of the salty peppery Taiwanese skin nuggets. The sauce that came with it was like a sour plum sauce.
They also gave us kimchi, salad and seaweed soup. The kimchi got spicy after a few. The salad was very "green", it had a tangy beet dressing on it. I don't really like the taste of beets. The seaweed soup was with seaweed and it had enough flavour to it.
Overall, not bad for the price. That was a lot of food and I was very full from it. Yes, would come back again but only for lunch.

Saku Review
Friend and I wanted to try their downtown location but there was a long wait so decided to go to their new location. Same thing, also a line up. I think we waited half an hour.
This location is a bit bigger than the downtown location. The staff were nice. You get free refills for the salad, rice and miso soup. They would constantly ask if you need any so no need to wave them down on it. Some dude beside us kept waving the waitress down for more. If I was the waitress, I would hate it.
We both ordered the hire curry ($18).
It's not very big, the tray was big. There were 2 deep fried pork loin meat that were already chopped into pieces. They have no taste on their own but very crispy. It taste quite nice with the sauce. The sauce was tangy. It taste better than with the curry.
The curry was good with the rice though. The curry kind of solidifies when it gets cold. Not really solid but dry looking.
The salad had no taste by itself but quite good with their sesame dressing. The dressing had a light sesame taste and tang to it. I also sparkled some sesame on which didn't have a strong sesame smell to me.
Their miso soup was different compared to other places. I think they had radish in there with carrots. But the taste is the same as other miso soup.
Overall, taste wasn't omg and it's a bit pricey unless if you are a big eater and asked for refill continuously. I may come again but not sure.

Pappa Roti Review
We were walking to our restaurant and I saw this sign with ice cream bun. I gotta try. After lunch, we decided to try. The service was soso, I feel like the lady was a bit cool, I feel like she is the boss.
I got the chocolate ice cream with m&m but she said they only have the reese bites, which was fine. Friend got the black sesame ice cream with oreo. ($6 and $7). Black sesame was a special ice cream that they have so add $1.
It was quite huge for the price, taste wise was just soso. The bun was very thin which was nice. It's quite messy, the reese bites keep dropping and the ice cream was melting. It's better to sit and eat but didn't want to stay in the shop.
It was interesting to try but maybe won't try again unless if they have something more special.

Gyo Para Gyoza and Ramen Bar Review
I wanted to try this place after looking at their pictures and someone said we can go, thanks! It was ok busy in there and ok big. Service was ok, they kept asking if we were ready which was...yea...
We both ordered cold ramen. I got the normal cold ramen ($13.95) and someone got the tantanmen cold ramen ($13.50).
I liked the cold ramen more. The ramen was the right texture. It had a tangy sesame sauce which was really good. We both thought they could put more meat into their cold noodle. Honestly, most ramen hardly have a lot of meat in it for the price we pay... Someone thought their egg was really good. The texture was still liquidy and the flavour was good. I thought the egg didn't have that soy sauce marinated taste to it but not bad.
The tantanmen, someone got the mild spicy which wasn't really spicy. The meat was like minced meat, well flavoured but I thought was a bit hard to eat. Someone liked this one more than mine.
Overall, not bad at all. I will come again for their hot ramen. Most of the people had their hot ramen. I think their gyoza looks good too but we didn't order it.

Pacific Poke Review
Someone suggested this place to try so we went. When we got there, it was empty. I guess it was a bit late and it's Chinatown so no one really go near these places. More people came in after.
We got the cali ($14) and the main ($15).
The size was ok big to me. The cali was very good. It's almost like a cali roll with a spicy kick to it. I won't list all the toppings, go look on their website. Although one protien was carb and shrimp, I couldn't really see any shrimps. They were so tiny but sweet.
The main, I couldn't really taste the difference. It's almost like the cali but not spicy. Had 3 protien, salmon, tuna and crab and shrimp.
Overall, we thought it was not bad. I don't think I would go again because there are a lot of poke out there.

Wak Wak Burger Review
We went to this festival and saw this food truck which was really cheap so decided to try.
We got the okonomi burger ($4.25) and the okopote ($3.88).
The burger was like a normal beef burger but the sauce was really good. The sauce made the burger different. At the end, there were so much sauce at the bottom. The size wasn't big but it was ok for the price.
The okopote was like a poutine but I thought it lacked a bit of sauce. It was different and unique. They had the okonomi sauce on it and some ginger.
Overall, not bad but normal. Yes, we would try again.

Kazami Review
We were gonna eat at this other place but it was packed so decided to eat here instead. It was ok in there and hardly anyone. Nice place to sit and talk. The service was ok, they always ask if we need tea. If I was on a date I may find that annoying, like leave us alone.
We ordered legend ($15), princess ($10) and lavender ($15).
All 3 rolls were very pretty and very pricey. I wish they had more sauce on each but it's ok.
The legend was quite fancy. I have never tell sushi with edible gold before. It looked very high class. Taste wise, it's my favourite out of all 3. The fried fish skin in the middle tasted like McD filet o fish, had a nice crunch to it. I like how they had a green melon sauce, it actually taste like melon.
The princess was probably my next favourite because it had ketchup on it. It was pretty much a California roll.
The lavender was ok but it seemed normal. I like the sweetness from the purple yam but not much difference from normal yam rolls. Quite pricey just because it looks nice. Yes and because of the unagi on top. I actually couldn't really taste the unagi.
Overall, not bad. I may come back since they have so many different pretty rolls but I'll probably order the cheaper ones next time. It's instant worthy though.

R&H Chinese Food Review
This place has ok reviews and someone likes this place. And I saw a cold noodle on their menu so decided to try. Thanks!
We ordered the spicy cold noodle in sesame sauce ($7 something) and combo B, onion pancake with wonton soup ($13 something).
The cold noodle looked ok but it has no taste to me. Just plain spicy and gets spicier. The sesame sauce was so light or maybe just covered with spiciness. I like the noodle as always. I also like the preserved veggies but too little.
The pancakes have no taste as well. They should have a dip. Someone said they have this vinegar stuff but it doesn't match the pancakes to me. Maybe like a light taste soy sauce.
The wontons were so tiny but has a nice meat flavour for the filling. The soup had a light seaweed taste to it.
Overall, everything was quite bland and I was quite disappointed. I thought they were really good. I guess I had too much expectations. Don't think I'll try again.

Old Xian's Food Review
Decided to come here and someone haven't tried this place yet.
It's not too big in there and not too busy but most of the tables were filled.
We got the cold noodle with sesame sauce ($8.95) and the spicy cumin lamb cold noodle ($12.45).
My sesame sauce cold noodle didn't look that great as you can see. The peanut sauce was very peanut, I prefer it with some kind of flavour, like sweet or salty. It wasn't very spicy but there were quite a bit of spicy oil on it. I really like the noodle because it reminds me of the flat rice noodle. The sauce sticked to it very well so it had flavour. There were these fermented like bread which I didn't like too much. It had a strong yeast or fermented taste to it.
I liked the cumin lamb one more. We asked for cold noodle but when they brought it to the table, it was steaming hot... Anyways, I really like cumin so it was really good. I don't eat lamb but I couldn't taste the lamb so it was good. I guess the cumin flavour covered it? The veggie in the dish was a bit hard, should be cooked longer.
Overall, not bad but I liked what I ate last time more than this time. But it was too hot to eat hot noodle soup. The food this time was good too though. Will come back again.

Win Win Chick-N Review
Decided to take someone here because I saw a coupon on their Facebook but they said they don't accept it anymore when we were there... Um, it said it can be used all summer, summer hasn't end yet. Before coming here I've heard people say it's expensive and not worth it. Yes, it was on the pricey side when they already attracted us in there. Kind of ugly to just walk out although it's fine.
We ended up getting the 2 3 PC chicken and sides ($8.99 each).
Everything was super hot. I heard they make to order. There were 2 drumsticks and a thigh, they were ok size. Very crispy, not as juicy as Church's and enough flavour.
The fries were average, it was thick cut, not sure if they added salt but I didn't taste anything. It wasn't crispy crispy but ok.
The macaroni was average as well. It tasted like pasta to us with a sweet taste to it. I thought it was very small. I mean for that price, can't you give us a bigger one?
Overall, average, no I don't think I would go again. I felt a bit scammed because of the coupon but can't use it. They tricked us to go...

Takeya Sushi Review
I've never tried this place so decided to go try. It's not very big in there so there are always line ups outside. We waited maybe 5 to 10 minutes, not too long. They apparently wipe the leather seats and it was still wet, a bit ew. Service was not bad.
We ordered aburi salmon battera ($15.45) , sakura roll ($9.95) and sesame chicken roll ($7.95).
My favourite roll was the aburi salmon . It had the most flavour of all. It had that melt in your mouth feeling. It would be nice if they had another layer of salmon in the middle. Some places do that.
Sakura roll was interesting to me since I've never had something like that before. It was like salty and sweet. I'm not sure why sakura flowers are always salty. It was like really salty. The roll itself was sweet because of the tamago. I thought it had a nice balance in flavour.
Rainbow roll was maybe my next favourite. It was a California roll with torched sashimi on top. To me, it lacked some taste and have to dip soy sauce.
My least favourite was the sesame chicken roll. Friend described it as chicken breast wrapped with rice. Yea, pretty much that but with a sesame sauce. I thought the chicken was well flavoured. It just lack a bit of creativity but it's ok.
Overall, it's alright but don't think I would try again. I tried everything I need to try. The rolls were quite pricey and only few pieces.

Kyoto Takenoko Review
Friend was craving ramen so decided to come here. It's not very big in there I think? We were seated in the front so not sure what the back looks like. The front was ok packed with people and then it slowly died down.
Service was ok.
I got the tonkotsu ramen ($11.95) and friend got the tonkotsu miso ramen ($12.95).
I thought the size was normal compared to other ramen places but friend thought it was small or not worth the price. The taste was normal to me, I have had better. I got the thin noodle but I think I like the thicker one better, texture seems better. I thought it lacked some taste so I added the 7 spice powder in but friend said the miso was pretty flavoured.
I don't remember what the cha siu was like, I guess it was normal so I don't remember. They also have a fish cake option. I wanted to do that but I forgot about it.
I don't think I would go back again. It didn't wow me and I still have tons of ramen places to try.

North Noodle House Review
The food truck festival was a bit disappointing, nothing special to try and very expensive. Tons of people were waiting in line for food. We only got an ice cream for $4.50. The ramen place I wanted to try was closed for the day which was stupid! So we ended up eating here instead, thanks!
Their menu reminds us of the place we tried last weekend. It's quite tiny in there but ok busy too. Service was ok.
We ordered a beef cold noodle and I got the spicy chicken cold noodle ($10 each).
When the beef noodle came we thought it looked almost like that other place. I thought this place had more beef and cucumber. The texture of the noodle were the same and really good. The beef and cucumber didn't have much taste. The soup was quite tangy and I didn't expect that.
The chicken one was pretty much same as the beef, but it had chicken and it was spicy. It wasn't crazy spicy but after a bit you can feel that heat on your lips. I couldn't taste the tang in the soup after I mixed the spicy sauce. The chicken was very soft and I think it was chicken breast.
Yes, I think I would come back again. It was not bad but I hardly come to New West.
